- MISCELLANEOUS COMMANDS
-
- <DATE> (ALT D key) inserts today's date at the current cursor
- position.
-
- <VERSION> (the ALT V key) prints the current version of NYWord.
-
- <REDRAW SCREEN> (ALT R key) clears the screen and draws a new copy of
- the text on the screen. This is useful if you are not sure of what's
- on the screen, or if funny characters appear on your screen due to
- noise on communication lines.
-
- <STATUS LINE> (ALT T key) toggles between the two types of status
- lines. The default status line shows the row, column, number of lines,
- mode, current format block, and current file name. The ruler status
- line looks like the tab line in the format menu.
-
- <OPERATING SYSTEM> (ALT X key) allows you to execute an operating sys-
- tem command from within the word processor. Type the command, followed
- by <RETURN>, and the command will be executed. After the command is
- finished, you will be brought back to your editing screen. In DOS, you
- can invoke a secondary command processor by typing "command". You will
- then "leave" the word processor, and you can interact with DOS. When
- you want to return to the editing session, type the DOS command
- "exit".
-
- <HELP> (the ALT H key) displays help information on the screen.
-
- <TOGGLE EGA> (the CTRL E key) toggles between 43 and 25 line mode on
- the EGA. Use this ONLY IF you have an Enhanced Graphics Adapter.
